The Presidents & Beauty Queen

President Manuel L. Quezon
I prefer a country run like hell by Filipinos to a country run like heaven by Americans. Because, however bad a Filipino government might be, we can always change it.”

Is that so? Look at the hell our country is into? Is this the hell you are talking about? Damn it. Very prophetic.

When you said these words, did you mean what you said or you just said it like any typical Filipino politician who shaded their speeches with patriotic overtone but basically meant nothing!

If you are to come back from your grave and live again today, would you take back your words or would you say the same words Mirriam Defensor Santiago had spoken “Ha ha, I lied!

Forgive me, i might have interepreted these incorrectly but just the same, this is what I think.

Ms International 2005 (PHILIPPINES) – Precious Lara Quigaman

Q : “What do you say to the people of the world who have typecasted Filipinos as nannies?”

A : “I take no offense on being typecasted as a nanny. But I do take offense that the educated people of the world have somehow denegrated the true sense and meaning of what a nanny is. Let me tell you what she is. She is someone who gives more than she takes. She is someone you trust to look after the very people most precious to you – your child, the elderly, yourself. She is the one who has made a living out of caring and loving other people. So to those who have typecasted us as nannies, thank you. It is a testament to the loving and caring culture of the Filipino people. And for that, i am forever proud and grateful of my roots and culture.

Note: There have been talks that our beauty queen never said these.

What do you think is the answer of Gloria, our crazy politicians and our government officials to the above question?

Let me guess their response: “Well, they are one of our best exports, the ”billion dollar export”. They sustain our dying econony. For this, we honor them with words. We call them our modern day heroes. But wait, here is the catch, if they stop working abroad then, they are no longer called as heroes. As such, no honors or benefits will be given them because of budgetary constraints. That’’s Life!.

Budgetary constraints? You know what they mean in our government dialect.

STOP Kimberly-Clark and Kleenex

From My Inbox:

Kimberly-Clark and Kleenex: Stop clearcutting ancient forests

Did you know that it takes 90 years to grow a box of Kleenex? That’’s right, every time you use a Kleenex tissue, you are blowing away ancient forests. That’’s because Kimberly-Clark, maker of Kleenex and other toilet and tissue products, all but refuses to use recycled paper in its products. Instead, Kimberly-Clark is clearcutting some of the rarest and oldest forests on Earth – just to create disposable paper products.

Take action now to tell Kimberly-Clark to Stop Clearcutting Ancient Forests:
Write to Kimberly Clark or Take other Kleenex action

Read the Issues and check out the Kimberly- Clark Forest Destruction Photos.

If they can do this in North America, what or who could stop them from doing the same things in our country!

Hunger, Hurricanes & High-level Officials

Dear Friend,

What an eventful month! Poverty and hunger have been at the top of the international agenda. World leaders gathered at the U.N. and the USA was rocked by several hurricanes. And all the while hunger continued to destroy families all over the globe. I wanted to update you on both the world hunger situation and what the World Food Programme is doing (as well as give you a first glimpse at our brand-new “new look, more options, feed-more-children” website: http://www.fighthunger.org!

When I emailed you last month, the world’s leaders were about to meet in New York at the U.N. The FightHunger community sent hundreds of letters to dozens of government ministers urging them to remember the millions of hungry families worldwide. I believe our letters pushed the attending leaders to restate their commitment to the Millennium Development Goals and fighting world hunger. (more…)

To Gloria Arroyo

Dear Madam Gloria Arroyo,

ME: An ordinary Filipino, member of the million Overseas Filipino Migrant Professionals, the so called modern day Hero, the regular source of revenue that helps economy afloat, an ordinary blogger, sarcastic, with a tendency to poke fun at you, homesick and alone.

YOU : Successful, rich and powerful, Gloria Arroyo, The President of the Republic of the Philippines.

After months of seeing you survived the attacks on your administration, you continously try to stay in power, my country is now going nowhere, I would like to talk to you. Don”t worry, no one will be able to wiretap our conversations, because this will be public.

Besides, I hate keeping secrets especially if it’’s with you. It is a great risk for me, rather than to you.

I have so many questions that you need to answer frankly and honestly!

CALL ME.
